November 5, 2011

On 11/5/11, ISU Police received a report from University Housing about an unknown male subject who entered Watterson Towers on 11/4/11, and approached two female students at their room, offering to clean it.  The students did not recognize the subject as a building service worker, nor believe him to be a University employee.  The residents asked the subject to leave and he complied.

The subject was described as a male/white, age 50-60, with gray hair, wearing a uniform style shirt.    

This incident is currently under investigation by the Illinois State University Police Department.  Anyone with information about this case should contact ISU Police at (309) 454-9535.  Students and others are strongly encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately. 

October 30, 2011

Around 2:48 a.m., on Sunday October 30, 2011, Illinois State University Police Officers were dispatched to the Bone Student Center Pay Lot in response to a person being struck by pellets.  The rear window of a vehicle was also struck by a pellet which destroyed the window.  A witness observed an unidentified person with a pellet gun in a nearby vehicle.

Suspect was described as an 18-22 year old, light-skinned black male, driving a Silver Jeep Liberty.

It is unknown if this incident is related to the previous Crime Advisory.  However, Illinois State University Police is following up on leads at this time.  If you have information that might assist the Police in identifying the person(s) responsible, please contact the Illinois State University Police at (309) 438-8631.  Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1000 for tips that lead to the arrest of these offenders.  Please contact McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.

October 18, 2011

On Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at approximately 8:00 pm, two students were struck by lead pellets while walking near Atkin Hall.  It is believed that the pellets were fired from Atkin Hall.  The Illinois State University Police continue to investigate the incident.

The Illinois State University Police is seeking your help in identifying those responsible.  Anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible will be eligible for a cash award of up to $1000 from McLean County Crime Stoppers.  Please contact McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111 if you have information that will help identifying the person(s) responsible for these acts. 

October 14, 2011

Normal Police Department has received ten different burglary reports at off- campus apartments since August 29th.  While there is no clear pattern of locations, they are all occurring in the late night through early morning hours (10:00PM to 2:30AM) on weekends. All of the victims were either attending parties and had items stolen from the party, or were residents and had items stolen from unlocked bedrooms or common areas of the apartments. All of the victims indicated there was some sort of gathering at the apartment where there were unknown persons freely allowed to come and go from the apartment. The unknown suspects entered unlocked bedrooms and removed valuable electronic items or cash.  Several reports also included purses, jackets, or other clothing with wallets or cash removed.

October 3, 2011

On Sunday, October 2, 2011, at approximately 2:25 AM, a male student reported he was struck in the face and pushed to the ground by two unknown male suspects while walking through the ISU In Exchange Plaza.  The suspects searched the student’s pockets but did not take anything.  The suspects were last seen running south towards Beaufort Street.

Both suspects were described as Male/Black, approximately 5’09” to 5’10”, wearing dark clothing.

September 19, 2011

On Sunday, September 18, 2011, at approximately 1:00 AM, an unknown male entered several unlocked female residence hall rooms in Manchester Hall.  The suspect knocked on the door before entering the rooms and would ask for a kiss and hug before leaving.  The suspect’s actions both alarmed and disturbed the residents.  When residents asked the suspect to leave, he complied.  The suspect was last seen leaving building and walking north at approximately 1:30 AM.

UPDATE:

The Illinois State University Police concluded the investigation of this incident with the arrest of a non-student suspect.

 April 27, 2011

 

REPORTED OFFENSE:

 

On April 27, 2011 at approximately 12:27 a.m., Officers from the Normal Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of North Fell Ave.  to investigate a Robbery that had just occurred.  A female ISU student and a female non-ISU student were approached by two male suspects. Both suspects forcibly took the victims purses and fled the scene.

 

Both suspects were short black males. One of the suspects was described as approximately 5’08 with a thin build and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

  

The case is currently under investigation by the Normal Police Department to identify and apprehend the suspects.  Anyone with information about this case should contact Sergeant Dan Kelley at 454-9520.  Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1000 for tips that lead to the arrest of this offender. REPORTED OFFENSE:

On March 25, 2011, at approximately 3:00 AM, a male ISU student was walking by himself in the 300 block of N. School Street after leaving a party.  The student was approached by two unknown subjects, who exited a white vehicle and began striking the student in the face.  No property was taken and the student received minor injuries.  The suspects were last seen fleeing north in the same vehicle.  The suspects were described as following: 

Suspect #1 was a M/B, approximately 6’02”, with dreadlocks, and a tattoo on his neck. 

Suspect #2 was a M/B, approximately 5’07”, with long hair in a pony tail, and a tattoo on his neck. 

The vehicle was described as a white, GM model, with a F/B driver wearing an orange shirt.

January 24, 2011

REPORTED OFFENSE:

On January 23, 2011, at approximately 1:00 AM, a female ISU student was walking by herself on the ISU Quad, when she was approached by two unknown subjects.  The suspects asked the student a question before striking her in the face.  No property was taken and the student received minor injuries.

Both suspects were described as M/W, 6' to 6'2" tall, medium build, and dark hair. Both were wearing black North Face brand jackets and blue jeans
